HARD TALK India prepared to sail into China sea

The Indian Navy is fully prepared to protect oil and gas exploration efforts by the ONGC-Videsh in Vietnam’s maritime zone in the South China Sea, Navy Chief Admiral D.K. Joshi said on Monday, in the context of China’s purported warning to other nations to keep out of the region.

Adm. Joshi revealed that the Navy is already conducting exercises to prepare for such a situation, should it be asked by the government to provide security. Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s Navy Day celebrations, he said the Navy had the mandate to protect India’s economic interests.
