A Leap of Faith

Unlike her illustrious dad Kamal Haasan, Shruti Haasan is God-fearing and pious person.

Recently, Shruti Haasan, who enjoys good spell at T'town and Bollywood visited the Chilkur Balaji Temple in the city and spent some time inside the shrine. This is the only temple which has no green channel or privileges for VVIPs and sources say that Shruti performed 108 pradhak shanams (going around Balaji's outer praharam hrine), a ritual which is usually done by devotees as a means of saying thanks in return for the Almighty's fulfilment of their wishes. It is learnt that Shruti had been to this temple prior to the release of Gabbar Singh as well. Singh as well.

Second Rape Accused Held

The Delhi police on Monday made its second arrest in the gruesome rape incident involving a five-year-old girl in the city last week. Joint police teams from Delhi and Bihar arrested 19-year-old Pradeep Kumar from Bihar in the early hours of Monday, two days after his friend and main accused Manoj Kumar was arrested in the case.

Blast at BJP Office

Exactly three years to the day, after the Chinnaswamy Stadium blast, a high intensity blast ripped through busy Temple Street, about a 100 meters from the BJP office in Malleshwaram on Wednesday morning leaving 17 injured, with 12 of them being policemen deputed for security. Five were civilians.

CBI Names Sabita in Jagan-Dalmia Case

The CBI on Monday named home minister Sabita Indra Reddy as an accused in its fifth chargesheet in the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy illegal investments case.

The chargesheet pertains to the allotment of 407 hectares of land in Kadapa district to Eshwar Cements for limestone mining. It says most of the land was later re-allocated to Dalmia Cements, which invested in Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy's Bharati Cements.

Tariff Hike Cut up to 200 Units

In a major relief for households, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday announced that there would be no tariff hike for families using up to 200 units per month in the domestic sector.

The decision will cost the government `830 crore in subsidy, and take 93 per cent domestic connections out of the ambit of enhanced tariff.
