Brand, Baaja Celebrity!

That brand endorsements are a sure shot way to fame and a fat bank balance is no secret but a long, hard look at some of the ads on air today make even our super stars look a tad des perate. Amitabh Bachchan endorsing Maggi, SRK serenad ing women in the Lux ad, and the icing on the cake is Salman Khan rooting for a Wheel detergent. What makes these Alisters opt for aam aadmi-kind of brands? Does it serve the purpose of con necting with the audience at all? Ad gurus feel its all about smartly utilising a known figure for a particular brand. Prahlad Kakkar says, “You must have a brand fit and a strong creative. If that's taken care of, the celebrity in it doesn't matter. Personally, I felt using SRK in a soap ad was a brilliant concept. How often do you come across a man sitting in a bathtub with women? If you build a strong storyboard, you can use a celebrity very well.“ well.“
