The travel travails of Hyderabadis — meter tampering and autorickshaw drivers not agreeing to go to the commuter’s desired destination — are getting worse. Almost all the drivers quote exorbitant prices for even small distances. “I had to go from Dilsukhnagar to New Malakpet and the auto drivers asked for `70 when by the meter it wouldn’t cost more than `30,” grumbled Satya Kari, from Moosarambagh.

RBI Catches yellow Fever

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday imposed restrictions on import of the gold by banks as its import saw a huge jump in April.

Gold and silver imports in April jumped by 138 per cent to $7.5 billion from $3.1 billion in the same month in 2012, according to commerce ministry.
This pushed the trade deficit in April to $17.7 billion.

The BJP has come a cropper in Karnataka with the Congress securing a simple majority and the saffron party down in the dumps with wins only in 40 of 223 seats.

The saffron party tried hard to ward-off antiincumbency by bringing in its star campaigner Narendra Modi -who was earlier averse to step into the state where a defeat looked evident -but the Gujarat Chief Minister's magic did not work. And given that Rahul Gandhi made eight appearances in the state for campaigning, the Congress is now claiming he won it the state, and more so that people “preferred“ him to Mr Modi of the BJP.

Cobrapost on Monday claimed that Dr Sailajanath was the standard guarantor for `25 croreblack money’ to be invested in a real estate project of his friend Dr P. Hariprasad, an orthopaedic surgeon who runs the Balaji Orthopaedic and Trauma Hospital in Tirupati.
