Telangana IT Policy Aims to Double Exports, Jobs

Aiming to develop Telangana as the IT (Information Technology) capital of the country, outclassing Karnataka, the Telangana government unveiled its first IT policy here on Monday, setting an ambitious goal to double its IT exports from the current Rs 68,232 crore in the next five years. The newly formed state, which is mainly focusing on employment generation, also hopes to double the job opportunities in IT sector to 8 lakh in the next five years.

After intoducing the Industrial policy - TS-iPASS, which attracted as many as 1691 firms and 883 industrial houses to Telangana, the state is now shifting its focus to the IT sector.

At a glittering function attended by some of the top IT honchos in the country, including Infosys chairman NR Narayan Murthy, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao unveiled the IT policy here on Monday.
