Modi likely to visit TS in Aug

Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit the State for the first time after the formation of Telangana in the first week of August to launch the Mission Bhagiratha and a power plant being constructed by the Singareni Collieries. Officials of Medak and Adilabad districts are busy making arrangements for the maiden visit of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister would tour the State on the invitation of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The Chief Minister extended the invitation to the Prime Minister during his recent visit to Delhi. He requested the Prime Minister to launch Mission Bhagiratha, a project to provide drinking water to all the households through taps. The Prime Minister would launch the Mission Bhagiratha at Gajwel in Medak district and also dedicate the 1200 MW power plant of Singareni Collieries at Jaipur in Adilabad district.

The power plant of Singareni has already been synchronised with the power grid and has been continuing production for the past two months. Though it was contemplated earlier to dedicate the plant to the nation through the Chief Minister, the State government has decided to invite the Prime Minister for the same. The government plans to use the visit of the Prime Minister to the State to improve its relations with the Centre.
